On March 28, the 2024 (19th) China Rubber Annual Conference, organized by China Rubber Industry Association (CRIA) in Qingdao, Shandong Province, started the third day of the conference program.
In today's world, green, recycling and sustainable development has become an important trend and an important initiative to promote the adjustment of economic structure, industrial structure and product structure.
The conference featured the "ESG Sustainable Development" theme forum, where nine guests from domestic and overseas industry associations and well-known enterprises shared their views.
Ren Yanfeng, Deputy Director of Formulation R&D Department, R&D Center of Sailun Group Co., Ltd, made a report on "Current Status and Planning for the Use of Sustainable Materials in Tires". Sailun proposes to increase the content of sustainable materials in tire products to 40% by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Ren Yanfeng introduced the realization path of Sailun's high percentage of sustainable material tires.
Aatif Misbah, Cabot's Vice President, General Manager of Sustainable Solutions, shared with the attendees a presentation titled "Upgrading Recycled Carbon to Equalize Performance in Existing Carbon Black Applications". Cabot has made new advances in upgrading recycled carbon to achieve similar performance results to ASTM carbon black, thereby enhancing the use of sustainable materials in semi-reinforcement and reinforcement applications.
Mr. Sun Peizhu, founder and chief consultant of Qingdao Aibor Management Consulting Co., Ltd, made a presentation on "Opportunities and Challenges for Rubber Products Enterprises in the Context of Hydrogen Energy". The "hydrogen energy" track involves brand new rubber products such as sealing, fluid transportation, protection, shock absorption and noise reduction, and brings huge market space. At the same time, it poses challenges to the use of special materials and the reserve of professional talents and technical standards.
Du Qiming, assistant to the chairman of Wanxiang Xinyuan Science and Technology Co., Ltd, introduced the remarkable progress, direct economic benefits and potential carbon saving benefits achieved by the application of cracked carbon black rCB in tire production. In the future, the company will focus on the research of application technologies such as improving the performance of rCB and increasing its dosage, so as to open up the great cycle of rubber tire industry and contribute to the comprehensive recycling of waste tire resources and sustainable development.
Silvio de Denaro, President of the Australian Tyre Industry Council (ATIC), and Lina Goodman, CEO of the Tyre Stewardship Authority of Australia (TSA), jointly presented "An Overview of Total Lifecycle Management of Tyres in Australia". As a country that relies entirely on imports, the full life cycle management initiatives of Australian tires attracted the delegates.
Chongyi Zhong, Sustainability Director of Bekaert North Asia, shared Bekaert's innovative, sustainable and digital solutions, ESG sustainability strategic goals, and green practices in You Know Watt global energy saving and emission reduction program, development and application of high percentage of recycled steel coils, etc., to support customers to achieve their sustainability vision.
Sun Bo, Acting Senior Sales Director of Butler, gave a report on "Industrial Building Quality and Life Cycle". He introduced the company's green low-carbon assembly customized light steel structure industrial building solutions and high-quality maintenance-free building systems.
Adam McCarthy, Secretary General of the European Tire and Rubber Manufacturers Association (ETRMA), gave a remote video presentation on "The Latest Tire Regulations in Europe". The presentation focused on the progress and timeline of the EU Road Wear Particle Regulation, as well as the advancement of other important regulations and regulatory measures, such as the recycling and disposal of end-of-life tires.
